May the Lord answer you when you are in distress;
May the name of the God of Jacob protect you.
May he send you help from the sanctuary
and grant you support from Zion.
may he remember all your sacrifices
and accept your burnt offerings.
May he give you the desire of your heart
and make all your plans succeed.
We will shout for joy when you are victorious
and will lift up our banners in the name of our God.
May the Lord grant all your requests.
Now I know that the Lord saves his anointed;
he answers him from his holy heaven
with the saving power of his right hand.
Some trust in chariots and some in horses,
but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.
They are brought to their knees and fall,
but we rise up and stand firm.
| This is the rock we paint the day of the party- our church is right across the street. |
I flipped to that Psalm Tuesday night, the day before Party at the Rock. It was exactly what I needed to read. David wrote this Psalm before going into battle. He recognized some armies had more chariots, horses, better weaponry...but they did not have the God of Israel, the one true God.
I could plan this party out perfectly (which I didn't ha), I could envision my team leaders with everything they needed to know, have everything organized, budget all set etc, but unless God moves, unless He leads me and guides me, this party would have been for naught.
Let me just say God showed up Wednesday night : ) and blessed that evening!
The weather was perfect. Everything flowed smoothly. Sure problems arose but God was with me. The days leading up to the party were rough for me, I felt overwhelmed, anxious and out of the spirit. There's just a lot to coordinate, I lot to get done, and lot to delegate which I am slowly learning to do. But come Wednesday it was game time. God gave me a focused mind, I was able to envision my team leaders and they did an incredible job of envisioning the masses to pull of this party (seriously they were hereos, stepping up to the plate and hitting home runs) We have tiki torches, a live band, sound systems, lighting, corn hole, rootbeer pong, fencing and lots more- and we have about 30 minutes to get everything set up (except the band and sound team- they have a lot longer). It's incredible to see the party come together. My team leaders lead their sub teams extremely well and I'm super blessed to be working with them. They have no idea how much they helped me out. They pulled off the party and God did the rest.
Other highlights!
-353 people came to the party, not counting LTers (there's 150 of us). How awesome is that! God blessed our numbers big time.
-I've heard stories of numerous spiritual conversations that took place. I actually talked with a guy for a while and I asked him if I could share the gospel with him. He said yes and on Sunday I'll be spreading God's word to Him. Praise the Lord for that opportunity! And pray for that conversation.
-The party: Like I stated, everything went pretty much according to plan. I just can't thank God enough, and I have plenty of ideas on how to make it more efficient next week : ).
Anyways, I can't thank you enough for your prayers and support for this party. I really can't describe how well it went without giving credit to our God. We have two more parties to go and I'm excited to lead my team into battle.
Hope you all have a great Sunday! I worked 16 hours on Wednesday so I'll be catching up on a bit of sleep today hopefully. Like I said, I am so thankful for God helping me to lead Wednesday, it was an honor to do battle for the King.
Psalm 20: 5 We will shout for joy when you are victorious and will lift up our banners in the name of our God. May the Lord grant all your requests."
Once the party was over I thought of this verse. I pictured us waving our banners in the name of the Lord after walking off the battle field victorious. Gosh I love it : )...Keep the prayers coming for LT, myself and for lives to be changed by the Lord.
side note I saw this clip the other day annnnnnd loved it...now be honest who do you really think is better?
