Weekly Update- One more Partaayy!

Hey ya'll!

So I must admit and apologize, these weekly updates are never very weekly.  More like sporadic updates, so yes, I apologize, but Alas...I am here and writing and will catch you up on what has transpired in the past week,

-Party at the Rock:  Last week's party was one of the HOTTEST ones's we've had.  I mean literally hot, this heat wave ridiculous.  The party ran smooth, God blessed it and moved through it, one of my friends even shared the gospel with a person who came to the party (in french nonetheless) so the word is getting out!  We only had half the numbers this past week (148 compared to 323 the first week) but heat and the Ann Arbor art fair may have been contributing factors to the lack of attendance.  Either way, it's not about numbers, it's about relationships and spreading God's word and regardless of how many people came, those two things occurred last week.   Praise God.

Tomorrow is our last party, so I again ask for your prayers.  Pray for a big turn out, pray against people's insecurities, that they may be filled with the spirit and be bold in their faith and have meaningful conversations with other people.  Pray that from a logistical standpoint things run smooth and we have good weather.  Also pray for myself, these parties are very stressful and I do feel under attack a lot.  Even though it's our third one and it does get easier to run since people know what is going on, I need God more than ever now.  Thanks for your prayers!

-Small group: God has been moving mightily in our small group, and guys continue to become even more vulnerable with their struggles and issues.  One of the guys shared about his struggles with acceptance this past week and cried over the lies he believes about himself.  We as a group were able to share truth with him, encourage him and love him.  It was a beautiful sight, and glory be to God for moving in his life.  He told us he was so thankful we are life.  I feel so privileged to serve and disciple men like these guys.  Another member of my small group shared his life story with LT last night and there was not a dry eye in the auditorium.  These men in my group are super courageous and I'm seeing leaders raised up right before my eyes.

Pray that our group would catch a vision of multiplication   What I mean by that is simply, that our group would catch a desire to share in the great commission (Matthew 28:18-20).  Jesus had 12 disciples he poured into, He started His church through these people, and they went out and spread God's gospel.  People repented, believed, came to know Christ and the church grew, just out of 12 disciples and it's lasted for over 2000 years!  That's how the church started.  Pray that we would have this same mentality.  I have a lot of guys in this group who are natural leaders.  Who have the ability to lead a group and change lives.  We want this group to multiply and to reach out to other men across campus.  Pray that God would lead my small group in doing just that.

-OC Blue New Life Team: Again, OC New Life Team this is the composite of all the girls and guys in the off campus community at Michigan.  We multiplied our team which means we now have two teams, OC Maize and OC Blue.  This past Sunday OC Blue broke bread together, shared in fellowship and continued to grow closer as family (this is the team I help to lead). We continue to pursue authentic, appropriate relationships between guys and girls and generally want to fight for each other.  It's the body of the Christ, and there's nothing like it.  Pray for this unity to continue to prosper and that our team would catch a vision and desire to be a church to the off campus community.  To love the community, serve the community, and share the gospel of Jesus Christ with the community.  Pray against past hurts and struggles for the men and women of OC Blue.  LT brings up a lot of issues in students, and we have many that are wrestling with deep questions and fears.  We are more than a social club.  We desire to be God's army, fighting for His kingdom and devoted to help each other grow.  Pray we would have that mentality.

As far as my life goes, I continue to be busy.  God continues to bring up character issues in my life for me to grow in.  He continues to refine me by the sword and although it is difficult and challenging, I do my best to remember Hebrews 12 and the fact that God loves those He disciplines and calls His sons (just like any earthy father disciples his children out of love, because he knows what's best for them).

Hebrews 12: 5-6 "My son, do not make light of the Lord's discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you, because the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes everyone he accepts as a son."

So what have I been up to besides all the chaos that is helping to run this LT program and reaching out to men and women?  I am in the process of being sanctified, becoming like my savior Jesus Christ.  It's not easy, but it's what God has called me to do, and the freedom I have received has changed my life.  The brokenness in my life continues to become more evident, but because of that the gospel of Jesus Christ and his grace continues to become more real, beautiful and amazing.  That he bore all my sins, and chose to love me.  Hmmmmm, it has changed my life : ).

Can't believe LT is almost done.  I'll be sure to update you all soon.  Thank you all for your continued support throughout this summer.  I can't begin to tell you how much your prayers have meant to me.  God bless you all!
